Leadership Communication Styles

by

Britt Fuller ILS COACH

38% of communication is translated by HOW vs. WHAT you communicate…..

People will perceive you to be AGGRESSIVE, PASSIVE or ASSERTIVE when you:

Aggressive:
1. Shout & swear
2. Sulk or retract for lengthy periods
3. Attack people personally vs. attack problems
4. Fail to offer thanks or a good word to others for good results
5. Look for faults, rather than solutions

Passive:
1. Can’t say “No”
2. Talk about others while they are not present
3. Avoid conflict
4. Fail to address unacceptable behavior
5. Bribe others to complete their tasks

Rather than be seen as Aggressive or Passive, be seen as Assertive

Assertive: These leaders are:
1. Solution focused
2. Prepared to listen and ask questions
3. Prepared to make decisions based with collaborative discussion
4. Known for giving clear & direct instructions
5. Known to follow up on tasks delegated
